East Lansing, Michigan – October 29, 2010 – The Vincent Hayes Project makes its Capital City debut performance at Reno’s East Sports Bar to raise awareness for EVE. This West-Michigan based band with local keyboard favorite, Doc (Steve) Yankee, drew a diverse crowd from as far away as Southeast Michigan.
Jessie Stipcak, Owner of Reno’s East (and Reno’s West) brought the band in to help raise awareness and funds for EVE saying, “Alcohol is no excuse for abuse.” A typical non-dancing establishment had people on their feet celebrating the music, and attendees were surprised at the talent from the Vincent Hayes Project.
Paul Miles, Southeast Michigan-based guitarist and vocalist came to see the band and learn about EVE. Gracing the stage with his guest performance, the crowd – and band - stayed past the scheduled time. Also taking the stage was Roger Gentry, guest vocalist and harmonica player of the Lansing-based JimmyG and the Capitals and Ingham County Ramblers.
“It was an honor to be part of such an important cause as raising awareness about domestic violence,” says lead guitarist and vocalist, Vince Hayes. Adding, “We had no idea domestic abuse was so prevalent and to know we played some role in raising awareness and funds for this cause and EVE made the night so much more memorable.”
Life in Lansing, Lansing’s one-stop web-based portal for all Lansing-based news and entertainment captured the event on video to share with the world via their website.
