New York International Film Festival awards Crumble with Best Directorial Debut in Los Angeles

Oct. 29, 2010 - PRLog -- Officials at the New York International Film Festival have announced its 2010 winners which includes “Best Directorial Debut” for the short feature “Crumble” written and directed by Renata Bialkowska. The ambitious film screened to a sold out audience in New York this past summer. The award will be given during an exclusive premiere in Los Angeles as part of the bi-coastal festival at Culver Plaza Theater on November 12th at 8:00 p.m. Stated Bialkowska “I’m thrilled my passion project which took several years to complete has garnered recognition at such a prestigious festival that has awarded filmmakers like Abel Ferrara and actors George Clooney and Meryl Streep”.

Equally thrilled with the announcement were the Producers; David Karges of Lileth Productions, Michelle Barry of Discipline Filmworks and Executive Producer of Baseline Films, Martin Hampford.

“Crumble” stars two time Golden Globe-nominated actor Steven Bauer best known for his role opposite Al Pacino in “Scarface” and Oksana Lada who had a recurring role in the five time Golden Globe-winning HBO series “The Sopranos”. A sexy arthouse thriller, “Crumble” is one woman’s journey through self-discovery and eventually out of the “box” that has imprisoned her for so many years. Greed, lust, addiction, chaos… this truly gritty tale pays homage to the underworld of New York City and ends with a surprise twist sure to please even the most discerning fan of the genre.

Reactions to the film have been positive. Stated NYU Professor Karl Bardosh “’Crumble’ is a taste of what’s to come from some innovative and promising filmmakers” and Demetria Daniels of Gotham Gossip said “The film was engaging from the first frame”. Founder and Executive Producer of the NYIFF Stuart Alson stated “I was very impressed… It’s a compelling and provocative film with flawless acting from a first time director”.
