Oct. 28, 2010 - PRLog -- Carlisle, PA – A unique partnership is bringing a new café and the promise of new jobs to Central Pennsylvania.  Catering company Chef Exclusive and Beiler’s Pretzels of Perry County are combining forces to open Pretzel Spot Café.  The new café, which officially welcomes customers on Tuesday, November 23rd, will be located in Carlisle’s Ribbon Mill.

“I am very excited, and cannot wait to open,” Alvin Beiler, Pretzel Spot Café co-owner, said.  “Right now we are in the construction stage, but I wish we were ready to open yesterday.”

The idea for the Pretzel Spot Café has a unique twist.  For the past few years, Beiler has operated his Amish pretzel-making business out of local farmers' markets.  He met Daneyon White while they were both working at the Village Craft Farmers Market in Carlisle.  White is a professionally trained chef who specializes in wedding and elegant event catering.  He is the current chef/owner of Chef Exclusive (http://www.chefexclusive.com), and former owner of the Little Spot Café.  When Village Craft closed last year in September, Beiler and White decided to join forces.

“I am very honored to be allowed into the centuries long Amish tradition, and be able to offer my modern twist to the menu,” White said.  “We both ran successful operations at the farmers market.  I believe our combined thoughts and foods will make this new adventure even better.”

The Pretzel Spot Café will cater to the breakfast and lunch crowds, and will offer unique items from bacon/sausage/ham, egg and cheese pretzel logs to traditional Panini sandwiches and salads.  New items will be added on a regular basis.  The café will be open Tuesday through Saturday from 6:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. (depending on demand).  The early hours will allow the upstairs area of the Ribbon Mill (http://www.carlisleribbonmill.com) to be used for its traditional variety of events and social gatherings.

“The Pretzel Spot Café is a win-win-win situation,” Beiler said.  “It will allow us to have better production and expansion capabilities.  Dairy Queen wants to sell our pretzels, so does Dunkin Donuts.  It also puts two businesses together, and places another restaurant into the Ribbon Mill.”

“The best way I can describe this is – an old, rustic feel with sleek elegance,” White said.  “We are giving people the option of eating classic comfort foods in a place where they can turn around and have an elegant event.”

When the café initially opens, it will be operated by family members.  Beiler says “once the kinks are worked out, we will be hiring more workers.  I already have 10 to 12 people who want to work, and we will be hiring.”
