Oct. 26, 2010 - PRLog -- BORDENTOWN, N.J. - In celebration of Princeton Tec’s 35th anniversary and heritage in the SCUBA industry, the manufacturer of innovative outdoor lighting is holding their inaugural “Beyond Bottomtime” dive photo contest from Oct. 26-Nov. 22.

Yeah, we hear ya – “Oh, great, another picture-palooza of colorful fish, coral and algae.”

Nope, not this contest.

Vibrant images of exotic fish and odd-shaped coral are cool and stuff, but Princeton Tec is looking for a little more. They’re looking for stunning images of the bizarre, burly and out-of-the ordinary that make you want to scream Holy S*it! They’re looking for the real deal, what diving is all about.

Starting Oct. 26, novice and professional photographers alike have the opportunity to not only win great prizes spread across five different categories, but also help support New Jersey-based non-profit Alliance for a Living Ocean (ALO). ALO’s mission is to “promote and maintain clean water and a healthy coastal environment through education and action.”
For every photo submitted, Princeton Tec will donate $0.25 to assist ALO’s program outreach. Furthermore, during the contest Princeton Tec employees will be volunteering with ALO at a local beach/ocean clean-up.

It’s simple to enter. Gather your best photos, head over to Princeton Tec’s custom Flickr page, upload your images and tag them with the category you want your photo(s) to be entered. LIMIT 10 PHOTOS PER PERSON.

Five categories:
•   Define Diving (best dive lifestyle photos)
•   Oldest Rig (antiquated SCUBA gear still in use)
•   Light It Up (best underwater photo involving a dive light)
•   Most Creative
•   Be Professional (If you get paid to dive, we want to see it)

Three winning photos will be chosen from each category and announced at the conclusion of the contest. Great prizes include: NeoSport booties and wetsuit, SCUBAPRO BC, TUSA mask and snorkel packages, one-year subscriptions to Wend magazine and lights from Princeton Tec, of course. The grand prize for the best overall image is a new Olympus Stylus Tough waterproof camera.

The contest is supported by media partner Wend magazine whose editorial growth model has been built “so that our love for the earth, in all its vast wonders, translates into a better ability to affect the destiny we face as human inhabitants of it.”

Now, go submit some photos.
