Every year the Shelter in Lordship Lane, Wood Green, London, takes in and cares for an increasing number of stray and unwanted cats and kittens.
Last year alone the London Shelter took in 247 cats and kittens, of which 101 (40 per cent) were strays, which was a 83 per cent increase on the previous year.
Therefore Wood Green is urging cat owners to do their bit throughout November by booking their cats into the London clinic for a ‘snip and chip’.
Cats will be neutered to stop unwanted kittens and microchipped so they can be easily identified if lost or stolen – for just £10.
Cat owners do not need to be a registered client of the London clinic to receive this service but numbers are limited so people are advised to book early to avoid disappointment.
London Shelter manager Katie Wickins said: “We are urging responsible pet owners to take up this valuable offer which ensures cats and kittens can be easily identified if lost or stolen. It will also help prevent unwanted litters.
“We hope this campaign will help increase the public’s awareness of its responsibility towards animals in society.”
