In 2009, China’s total import and export value of chemical medicines amounted to USD 32.79 billion, rising by 8.03% YOY. The export value was USD 19.20 billion, dropping by 0.8% YOY; the import value was USD 13.59 billion, rising by 23.59% YOY.

In the heavily-populated China, the medicine consumption capacity will be improved with the increase of residents’ income and the intensification of their healthcare awareness. Moreover, the volume of the elderly in China is rising, and they are one of the largest consumer groups of medicines.
