NJMET's Joseph Federico Announces Completion of AS5553 Training Course

Joseph Federico, Vice President and Director of Operations of NJMET, has announced that five NJMET employees have completed the class, Introduction to AS5553 and Counterfeit Electronic Parts Avoidance Training.

Oct. 25, 2010 - PRLog -- Clifton, NJ -- Joseph Federico, Vice President and Director of Operations of NJMET, has announced that five NJMET employees have completed the class, Introduction to AS5553 and Counterfeit Electronic Parts Avoidance Training.  This course, presented as part of on-going professional development for engineers, was presented at the Clifton, NJ laboratory by SAE International during September.  The SAE AS5553 Standard was created in response to the volume of counterfeit electronic parts in the aerospace supply chain.

The class includes sections on counterfeit parts risk mitigation methods in electronic design and parts management, supplier management, procurement, part verification, and material control.  It also includes a section on response strategies when counterfeit parts are suspected and/or discovered.

Muscarelli Center at Fairleigh Dickinson University on cloned and counterfeit components as well as serves as an expert witness for clients.
