"The LBI Region experience is made up of many parts; local shops, services, restaurants, and attractions that enhance both our visitors and our community all year long," states Lori Pepenella Destination Marketing Director of the Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce. In response to growing concerns of changing shopping habits and trends, the Chamber has worked with local businesses and organizations to develop the "Find Your Treasure Locally- Support Neighborhood Businesses in Southern Ocean County" campaign.
"It is the hopes that all businesses, organizations and municipalities will adopt this logo, to brand the business community with this reminder" states Renee Kennedy, President of the Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce who points out the importance of shopping local. "Dollars spent in locally owned businesses have much more impact on your community as dollars spent online or out of the area. When shopping within Southern Ocean County, you support and create jobs, provide funding for more services through sales tax, invest in neighborhood improvement and allow the businesses to give back to home town fund raising efforts." Kennedy also maintains that the Mom and Pops shops help sustain walkable shopping areas, that reduce the fuel footprint from indivdual shipping and automobile use and provide products that are customized to our community.
The Chamber plans on supporting this campaign with local billboards, posters, and attaching to upcoming initatives such as Chocolate Week, The Marketplace at Southern Ocean and the Wedding Road Show. To obtain a copy of the logo, which was created by A&L Graphics, a local chamber member,or to find out more about the Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce, go online to visitLBIregion.com, stop in at the Visitor Center at 265 West Ninth Street, Ship Bottom or call 609 494 7211.
