Oct. 25, 2010 - PRLog -- Des Moines, IA – The holiday season is just around the corner, and one Des Moines hotel is offering tips to help businesses and event coordinators plan perfect holiday parties. Experts at the Ramada Tropics Resort and Conference Center have plenty of experience in throwing lavish events, and know how overwhelming it can be to plan a successful end-of-the-year bash.

“Whether you’re in charge of planning the company Christmas party or hosting a mixer for your corporate clients, it’s best to break the planning down into smaller steps,” said Rossie Williamson, sales director at the Des Moines hotel. “Location is the most important aspect of throwing a successful holiday party, so start by searching for your venue.”

Williamson recommends choosing a conference or event center that is centrally located for guests, keeping in mind the atmosphere the venue projects.

“If your party is a formal cocktail affair, it may not be more appropriate to host the event at a hotel than a bar,” Williamson said. “Also consider the number of attendees, to be sure you don’t book a giant room for a small party, or risk crowding too many people into a small space.”

Once the location is secured, Williamson suggests brainstorming ideas for entertainment, food and beverages and party favors.

“No holiday party is complete without games, great food and a little something for each guest to take home. Whether your employees enjoy interactive games, live musical entertainment or a little bit of both, it is best to keep every guest in mind - including spouses, friends and family if they are all invited,” the Des Moines hotel sales director said.

With a 5,200 square foot ballroom and an additional 2,200 square feet of flexible breakout space, the Ramada Tropics Resort & Conference Center often plays host to both large company parties and small family holiday events.  The Des Moines hotel also offers catering, business, and audio-visual services, in addition to affordable accommodations and extensive hotel amenities.
