Oct. 25, 2010 - PRLog -- Owners and senior decision-makers representing more than 70 companies of varying sizes from across the region attended the inaugural meeting of the new Business Network Lancaster – South Lakes at the Lancaster House Hotel last week.

Business woman Michelle Malkin, founder of the Lancaster-South Lakes Network told attendees that the organisation brought an entirely new concept in networking that had generated tens of millions of pounds of business for entrepreneurs elsewhere in the country.

Regularly monthly luncheon meetings would enable members to build valuable business relationships and access to a support network of like-minded entrepreneurs that could provide everything from expert advice to business leads.

“Access to a support network is invaluable especially in challenging times,” said Michelle after the meeting. “And I was delighted that the guests at our inaugural meeting recognized that very important fact.

“In fact I am now processing the first applications for membership of our new group and it is gratifying to see that our concept has appealed to so many from across the region. Businesses from Windermere, Morecambe and Kendal as well as Lancaster have already applied for membership.”

The free pre-lunch seminar by networking guru Will Kintish attracted more than 40 participants who then enjoyed pre-lunch drinks and open networking before sitting down to luncheon.

The lunch speakers included former BBC journalist turned MD of media training company AMTV Alistair Macdonald and Julie Graham founder of Distinction Marketing. Both welcomed the Business Network concept to the region having experienced the benefits of membership of the long-established Manchester group which has generated millions of pounds worth of business for members.

After the event guest Deborah Done, founder and director of Cumbria PR company Nab Communications said: “I thought it was fantastic. I met so many interesting and high quality individuals at the lunch and got in my application form as soon as I could.

“It was highly professional and very impressive and I think it will be a substantial addition to our regional networking opportunities.”

Michelle added: “Deborah’s comments were very welcome and I am convinced she will derive significant benefits for her business through membership. I know I did when I first joined the Network.

“That’s why when the opportunity to open my own business network in the region came up I had no hesitation. I love this part of the country and I know its vibrant business community will make the most of the benefits it will bring.”

The next Business Network Lancaster luncheon will take place on Thursday November 24th at the Lancaster House Hotel at 11.45 am. The event finishes promptly at 2.00pm.

Attendees may also take advantage of a pre-lunch seminar on presentation skills by ex BBC reporter Alistair Macdonald. The seminar starts at 10 am and finishes in time for the lunch event.
