A Jingle Jangle Christmas at Orlando Shakes.Just in time for the holiday season, Orlando Shakespeare Theater in Partnership with UCF presents Chaps! A Jingle Jangle Christmas, a rousing, rowdy, family-friendly musical comedy that is sure to put you in the holiday spirit!
By: Melissa Mason, Orlando Shakespeare Theater “Gene Autry and Roy Rogers were both enormously popular American western stars of yesteryear,” Chaps! A Jingle Jangle Christmas begins previews on Wednesday, December 1, opens officially Friday, December 3 and runs through Sunday, December 26 in the Margeson Theater. The six-person cast includes several familiar faces, as well as performers new to Orlando Shakespeare Theater audiences, including: Michael Edwards (Clive Cooper), Philip Nolen (Leslie Briggs Stratton), Mark Whitten (Miles Shadwell), Michael Gill (Archie Leitch), Melissa Mason (Mabel Carter), and Brandon Roberts (Stan). An experienced production team joins the cast including, Director Patrick Flick, Music Director Dan Flick, Scenic Designer Bert Scott, Costume Designer Mel Barger, Lighting Designer Mary Heffernan, and Sound Designer Britt Sandusky. MORE ABOUT THE CAST: Philip Nolen, a veteran of the Orlando theater scene, last appeared at Orlando Shakes in the hilarious musical history of the universe, The Big Bang. He gave critically acclaimed performances as Salieri in Mad Cow Theatre’s Amadeus, as Nathan Detroit in Guys and Dolls and as Henry Higgins in My Fair Lady with the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra. He is joined by Michael Edwards who also appeared in My Fair Lady as Alfred P. Doolittle and as Benny Southstreet in Guys and Dolls. Mark Whitten originated roles in the Off-Broadway production of Captain Louie as well as ToyStory: The Musical with Disney Cruise Lines. Michael Gill, another Orlando Shakes regular, was last seen as Tom in Schoolhouse Rock Live! and as Guildenstern in Hamlet. Melissa Mason has performed locally at Mad Cow Theatre, Orlando Repertory Theatre, Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra and at Orlando Shakes, where she appeared as Shulie in last season’s Schoolhouse Rock Live! Brandon Roberts recently graced the Orlando Shakes stage The 39 Steps, Hamlet, and The Comedy of Errors. What: Chaps!
