Hunger Action Month, which takes place annually in September and is sponsored by Feeding America, is aimed at raising awareness and encouraging advocacy to combat hunger across the nation.
This is the third consecutive year that FOX Chicago News and JEWEL-OSCO have teamed up for their Hunger Action Month campaign, called “Give a Little, Feed a Lot.” The proceeds, collected at 182 JEWEL-OSCO stores, will be donated to five area food banks: the Greater Chicago Food Depository, the Northern Illinois Food Bank, the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana, the Midwest Food Bank and the River Bend Foodbank.
“Combating hunger is a top priority of JEWEL-OSCO’s community outreach efforts, and we are extremely proud of the generosity from our customers that enabled us to make these important donations,” said Keith Nielsen, President of JEWEL-OSCO. “Our area food banks play a critical role in helping local families in need and we were excited to partner with FOX Chicago News to help advance these efforts during Hunger Action Month.”
