PRLog - Oct. 21, 2010 - PEORIA, Ariz. -- In November the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) will host their annual conference in Chicago, Illinois. At the event Chicago’s Mayor Richard Daley will receive a newly created award from the USGB entitled the Mayor Richard M. Daley Legacy Award for Global Leadership in Creating Sustainable Cities.
The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) established the LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Green Building Rating System and it has quickly become the leading certification method used to rate both new and existing buildings. Chicago was one of the first cities to embrace the LEED program and is home to more LEED-certified green buildings than any other city.
LEED certified buildings are good for the environment since they typically use less energy and create less waste. There is also a financial incentive for builders and property owners due to their increased value and healthier indoor environments.
EC2, Inc., a leading environmental and building science consulting service, is a leading provider of IAQ testing services for LEED certification across Chicago and Northern Illinois. “EC2 can provide the necessary independent third party indoor air quality testing of properties undergoing LEED certification,”
