Oct. 20, 2010 - PRLog -- The health effects of smoking are widespread and deadly. It is really necessary to educate oneself to understand the negative effects smoking does have on the functioning of the body and mind.
It is apparent that the health effects of smoking around the body are significant. Smoking impacts virtually every organ within the human physique and may be the major contributor to establishing some sort of cancer.
Smokers shorten their life with between 2,5 and 10 years and they are three times as most likely to die before the age of 60 or 70 than non-smokers.
Health effects of smoking do have an impression on smokers:
A cigarette releases over 4000 chemicals of which more than 250 that are harmful to the body and at least 50 that are cancer forming.
Cancer, coronary heart and lung conditions are the most common conditions associated with smoking, and there are many more.
Smoking is still the cause of the most preventable deaths in the world. Smoking does have a negative effect on almost every organ in the body.
Cancer--
Smoking causes cancer of the lungs, but it can also cause cancer of the larynx, mouth and cervix as well as pancreatic cancer and cancer of the bone marrow.
Smoking can be the cause of most types of cancer.
The lungs--
When you keep on smoking you inhale smoke that carries a considerable amount of tar. This is the cause of emphysema, chronic bronchitis and tuberculosis.
Heart attack and stroke--
A person’s heart and circulatory system feels the health effects of smoking the quickest. The substances in smoke cause fat to accumulate in the blood vessels. The blood vessels become stickier and it results in the hardening of the arteries.
The heart just cannot pump enough blood to supply the tissues of the body with healthy oxygen. This causes heart attacks and strokes.
Pregnancy--
The health effects of smoking, and even of second hand smoke, on pregnant women are dangerous.
Smoking causes preterm delivery, low birth weight and sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS).
The brain--
Smoking has a powerful impact on the brain. When a person smokes dopamine enters the brain which immediately changes a person’s mood, because dopamine has a pleasurable effect.
Smoking also reduces memory and cognitive abilities.
To conclude:
The health effects of smoking are deadly. The best is to quit in order to rid yourself of this deadly burden.
It is never too late. Two weeks after you stop your health will start improving and after 15 years your mortality rate will be the same as non smokers.
I stopped more than 15 years ago and my health recovered fully. So can you.
