Oct. 19, 2010 - PRLog -- Allstate agency owner Larry Smith was recently named an Agent Hero by Allstate Insurance Company’s New York Region, and awarded a $500 grant for a local youth program.

The Smith Agency donated the grant to the Staten Island Ice Hockey Association (SIIHA), which provides ice skating and ice hockey instruction to Staten Island youths through after-school clinics and games. The donation will help the SIIHA offer a free winter clinic starting in November 2010 at the Staten Island Skating Pavilion at 3080 Arthur Kill Road, where boys and girls age 4 to 17 can learn skating and the fundamentals of ice hockey. Smith himself first played organized hockey in the SIIHA junior varsity and varsity high school leagues with Monsignor Farrell High School, from 1980 to 1984.

“As an Allstate agent, I believe it is my responsibility to demonstrate the Good Hands Promise in the Staten Island community every single day,” said Smith, whose office is located at 3800 Richmond Avenue. “It is an honor to be able to donate this grant to the SIIHA and hopefully touch the lives of the kids who are involved. I hope to encourage the growth of the sport of ice hockey on Staten Island.”

Contact the Smith Agency at 718-967-1500.
