Follow on Google News | 18th Seattle Polish Film Festival at SIFF Nov 4-14, 2010The 18th annual Seattle Polish Film Festival will present over 25 films including the best of this year's feature, independent, student, and animated films from Poland, as well as accompanying guests.
By: The Seattle-Gdynia Sister City Association A Wonderful Summer, acclaimed by critics and audiences alike, is a light-hearted comedy about Kitka, a stonemason's daughter, who has an extraordinary ability of communicating with the ghost of her dead mother. A Wonderful Summer will be preceded by a short film, The Animated History of Poland, by Tomasz Baginski (Oscar nominee for the film The Cathedral). The festival will also feature: The Unknown Case, a new film by Feliks Falk, based on a script co-written by Agnieszka Holland, about an intriguing relationship between a psychiatrist and his patient; A Little Rose, by Jan Kidawa-Blonski, an award winning drama examining the lives affected by the Polish Intelligence Service; War of Love, by Filip Bajon, a comedy poking fun at the war of the sexes; After.Life, by Agnieszka Wojtowicz-Vosloo, a psychological horror-thriller starring Liam Neeson, Christina Ricci and Justin Long; All I Love, by Jacek Borcuch, embracing the themes of forbidden love, youth, music, and sex (All I Love is Poland’s candidate film for the 2011 Oscars in the Best Foreign Language Film category). The SPFF is also honored to welcome esteemed guests from Polish cinema, including renowned director Ryszard Brylski, celebrated actress Katarzyna Figura, and the up-and-coming director Agnieszka Wojtowicz-Vosloo. The SPFF is one of the longest running Polish film festivals in the United States, stretching back to 1992. The festival includes the best of Poland’s feature, independent, and student films, as well as animated films and documentaries.
