SuperGIS Image Server Effectively Manages Large Scale of Raster Data

Oct. 19, 2010 - PRLog -- SuperGeo Technologies utilized SuperGIS Image Server to manage huge imagery data for the Institute of Transportation. Users not only can access large quantities of data and reuse the images on the server side rapidly to optimize the value of the images, but also decrease the cost of purchased image significantly.

Institute of Transportation (IOT) at Ministry of Transportation and Communications, Taiwan, is in charge of managing and updating National Road Network Digital Map Sustainable Database. The database is one of the essential tasks of the Institute.

Besides the road variations and the field survey data provided by local governments, the aerial orthophotos provided by Aerial Survey Office are the important references of large scale of map updates which are also the sources for updating the Database.

The file size of each aerial orthophotos, however, is hundreds of MB so that it takes large space to save the files. It would be inefficient to share the data, and the data would be underused. Moreover, it always takes much time to find the needed extent and open the file, and the work efficiency might decline.

Map maintenance staff is then able to rapidly access the image from the server side on SuperGIS Desktop and also are allowed to edit the digital maps conveniently.
