AMS Fulfillment Contributes Gift Bag Assembly Services to the 13th LA Cancer Challenge

PRLog (Press Release) - Oct. 15, 2010 - Los Angeles, CA - It’s good news when a fundraising event has so many participants that volunteers get overwhelmed when trying to assemble all of the gift bags.  It’s good news as well when a fulfillment company responds to their dilemma and offers to build the gift bags free of charge!

AMS Fulfillment President, Jay Catlin, learned of the LA Cancer Challenge from Teri Hughes-Velona of the Paul A. Hughes Family Foundation, a fellow sponsor for the Santa Clarita Valley Search and Rescue Golf Tournament held in September of this year. Teri spoke of the gift bag assembly task that she and other volunteers undertake each year for the LA Cancer Challenge, and explained that with attendance this year expected to reach 5000 participants, assembly of gift bags had become too big of a project for the volunteers to handle. Catlin said, “When an assembly projects reaches these numbers, it really should be with a company like ours, and we saw this as the perfect opportunity to support a great cause by doing what we do best.”  Ken Wiseman, CEO for AMS agreed and added, “It’s a privilege to help a charity so close to our hearts. We’ve all been affected by cancer in some way, including here at AMS.”

The L.A. Cancer Challenge benefits the Hirshberg Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research.  The foundation was established 13-years-ago by Agi Hirshberg in honor of her husband, Ronald Hirshberg.  Hirshberg’s desire was to fund much needed research on the disease that took her husband’s life, a disease that continues to be one of the most fatal and least funded of all cancer types.  Hughes-Velona, a friend and long-time supporter of the Hirshberg Foundation said, “My dad died from pancreatic cancer just under three months after being diagnosed. I won't stop until we find a cure for this disease.”  She added, “It’s now eleven years later and I know what I’m doing won’t bring my dad back, but I'm here to fight for others until a cure is found.”

The 13th Annual LA Cancer Challenge is a 5K and 10K run/walk scheduled to take place on Sunday, October 31, 2010 on the Veterans Administration Grounds in West LA.
