Oct. 14, 2010 - PRLog -- NEW YORK – The New York League of Conservation Voters, which elects pro-environment leaders to local, state and federal offices across New York, today announced that it will be waging its largest campaign of the year to defeat Sen. Hugh Farley in the 44th District (Fulton, Montgomery, Saratoga and Schenectady counties).

NYLCV – which is the only statewide organization that wages political campaigns specifically to elect pro-environment candidates and defeat anti-environment foes – will be waging a robust campaign that includes five rounds of mail, direct voter contact, live and auto phone calls, as well as paid advertising in traditional and new media.

“There is a reason why New Jersey, Iowa and even Texas have leapfrogged New York in terms of clean-energy generation and environmental conservation: their elected leaders have made sustainability a top priority,” said NYLCV President Marcia Bystryn. “For too long, Senator Hugh Farley has been an obstacle to progress and innovation. We need to restore environmental leadership to Albany, and that begins with defeating Hugh Farley.”

NYLCV’s “F is for Farley” campaign highlights Sen. Farley’s lifetime “F” grade on environmental issues. The campaign will focus on his troubling record supporting polluters, blocking clean air initiatives, fighting protections for parks and endangered species, and not supporting a clean-energy economy and green jobs. Farley's bad record stretches all the way back to when he was Chair of the Senate Environmental Conservation Committee in the 1980s, when he sponsored bills not because he supported them, but to control them to ensure that they did not come up for a vote in his committee.
