New Event Rentals Collaboration Launches in Phoenixville, PA

Two unique facilities in suburban Philadelphia are partnering to promote event rentals: Rock & Roll After School, the nation's most innovative music school for kids, and its parent building, Franklin Commons.

Oct. 13, 2010 - PRLog -- Phoenixville, PA: A new program to heighten awareness of Phoenixville’s Franklin Commons and tenant Rock & Roll After School has been launched to highlight these unique facilities’ suitability for rental events, especially “parties that really rock” in “a most un-common  place.”

An open house was held last night at Franklin Commons to showcase the 225,000-sq-ft mixed-use educational, corporate and event facility and the 5,850-sq-ft Rock & Roll After School to event planners, chambers and visitors bureaus, approved caterers and related professionals.

The celebration featured live music performances by the Carl Bahner Trio as well as music by Tom Hefferon of Epic Events; a light show by Albert Scarcelli of Full Moon Entertainment; wine from Valerie Castle of Black Walnut Winery; and lots of food by Drexelbrook Catering, Queen of Hearts Catering and Cornucopia Caterers.  A custom cake was created especially for the event by Sarah and Steve Little of Sweet Talk Cakes, and the evening was captured by photographer Mike Irby of Mike Irby Photography.

“Rock & Roll After School regularly presents concerts, talent shows and recitals, and we’ve been hosting reunions, graduations, sweet 16s, birthdays and bar and bat mitzvahs, “ said Erin Riley, founder of Rock & Roll After School. “We decided to hold an open house to highlight the many amenities and event opportunities available throughout this remarkable Phoenixville building.”  Franklin Commons’ Director of Public Relations Teri Eide added, “People are usually pleasantly surprised to find such flexible spaces and event rental options available here in Phoenixville.”

Rock & Roll After School opened in Franklin Commons in June 2009. With its brand new,  4,000-square foot professional performance venue featuring staging, 24-channel sound and lighting, a game room with a huge chalkboard wall, 8 individual lesson rooms and expansive, colorful, custom wall murals, the school has also become popular as a rental space for parties.

Franklin Commons, located at 400 Franklin Avenue in Phoenixville, is an approximately 100-year old industrial building that has had only four owners and four uses.  Palma, L.P. bought the building on March 17, 2006, and after environmental remediation, it was divided into leasehold spaces and leasing commenced in 2007. Approximately one-half of the tenants are educational or quasi-educational, and occupy approximately 80% of the building.  Franklin Commons offers bistro dining at the Franklin Bistro, reception and banquet facilities at the Franklin Hall and the Franklin Conference Room is available for business or community meetings. Franklin Commons was awarded 2009 Best Mixed Use Project by Philadelphia Business Journal.
