Oct. 13, 2010 - PRLog -- LAS VEGAS – Smart City Networks provided the technology necessary to broadcast over 100 live surgeries in high definition at the Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics (TCT) Conference 2010 held last month at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center (WEWCC) in Washington, D.C.

Sponsored by the Cardiovascular Research Foundation (CRF), TCT is the world's largest educational meeting specializing in interventional cardiovascular medicine.  For more than 20 years, TCT has been the center of cutting-edge educational content.

At TCT 2010, Smart City enabled the broadcast of live surgeries in high-definition from 19 locations around the world to conference attendees via seven outside video circuits.

For the first time, CRF offered an interactive video player that could be viewed either on a single desktop or on a much larger scale for full room projection viewing.  Live cases were also broadcast on a massive 150 by 22 foot projection screen in the Main Arena.

“With live cases spanning the globe, Smart City enabled us to stream the feeds live and in HD to the attendees of TCT 2010 so they can get as close to a first-hand experience as possible,” said Louis Cruz, senior network administrator, Cardiovascular Research Foundation.

“The live video feeds were an integral part of TCT 2010 and ensuring the network had enough bandwidth to broadcast these feeds flawlessly in HD was our team’s priority,” said Mark Haley, president of Smart City Networks. “As more events such as TCT embrace innovative technology solutions to deliver value for their customers, it reinforces the need for Smart City and the WEWCC to continuously upgrade both the facility’s technical infrastructure and the quality of our onsite technical team.  Show managers appreciate the dedicated focus on the meetings industry that we bring to our Smart City facilities.”

TCT 2010 utilized up to 70Mbps, and the wireless network overseen by Smart City served over simultaneous 3,000 Wi-Fi users per day.  Smart City also provided nine custom networks to support special function areas of the conference.

Smart City Networks has been the leader in providing of wired and wireless event technology at the nation’s major convention centers for over 25 years and has provided the event technology at TCT for 8 years.
