A Dream Home in North Carolina’s High Country

Oct. 11, 2010 - PRLog -- (Banner Elk, NC) A well known interior designer and head of his own design firm in Jacksonville, Florida, Adler Design Associates, Gary Adler likes to get away with his family to the crisp mountain air of North Carolina. Over the years he has rented countless homes and cabins. Yet none of them felt quite like home. Looking for a more permanent solution, Gary discovered a beautiful 14 acre tract in the popular area of Valle Crucis.

Gary wanted to create a rustic retreat for him and his family. Because of his hectic schedule, Gary couldn’t oversee construction personally. The design would be far from ordinary.  A mountain lodge, a home away from home, was more what Gary wanted to create, says Nicole. “One of the most premiere views of Valle Crucis is seen from his location. We designed his home to take advantage of the gorgeous view from every room in the home. Of course, this location would be on the steepest location of his land.  Though challenging to work on, the slope created some additional living spaces.”

This 5,800 square foot home has four bedrooms, 4.5 baths, and has nearly 2,000 square feet of exterior living space in covered porches and decks.  There is even a classic screened sleeping porch for those summer nights when you can’t bring yourself to come in from the beautiful high country nights.
