By: The Log Homes Council Gary wanted to create a rustic retreat for him and his family. Because of his hectic schedule, Gary couldn’t oversee construction personally. After interviewing several log home suppliers and builders, Gary chose local manufacturer, Log Homes of America (Banner Elk, NC) to supply his kiln dried Eastern White Pine D Log Package. Gary also selected Logs America, LLC, owned and operated by general contractor, Nicole Robinson as his builder. “For Gary to choose our company was quite an honor,” says Nicole Robinson. “As a well respected, designer and builder, and founder of Alder Design Associates, I knew Gary would be a tough customer and put me through my paces. Having the experience of building in the mountains for years and developing a great team of trade partners that I could trust gave me the comfort and support to accept the challenge.” The design would be far from ordinary. A mountain lodge, a home away from home, was more what Gary wanted to create, says Nicole. “One of the most premiere views of Valle Crucis is seen from his location. We designed his home to take advantage of the gorgeous view from every room in the home. Of course, this location would be on the steepest location of his land. Though challenging to work on, the slope created some additional living spaces.” This 5,800 square foot home has four bedrooms, 4.5 baths, and has nearly 2,000 square feet of exterior living space in covered porches and decks. There is even a classic screened sleeping porch for those summer nights when you can’t bring yourself to come in from the beautiful high country nights. Members of the Log Homes Council routinely make dream homes a reality for homebuyers. The council is also an association of the most reputable log home companies in the United States, Canada and beyond. While hundreds of companies offer log and timber homes, less than 60 qualify for membership in the Log Homes Council. What sets these companies apart? They offer peace of mind to consumers. Membership requirements offer safeguards, including: • Abiding by a strict code of ethics • Grading their logs and timbers by third party agencies to ensure quality • Providing construction manuals to ensure homes are built to meet building codes • Contributing to scientific studies that advance log building technologies • Offering FREE information to consumers “This means when you buy from an LHC member, it guarantees you are getting the quality materials that will stand the test of time,” says Jim Murphy, chairman of the Log Homes Council, and a log home manufacturer from Mauston, WI. Much of the LHC’s knowledge is on display on the association’ # # # ABOUT LOG HOMES OF AMERICA: Log Homes of America is an award-winning log and timber home producer that’s large enough to craft any style home, but small enough to know who our customers are when they call.
