Oct. 11, 2010 - PRLog -- Darragh MacAnthony believes everything is now in place for Peterborough United to create a slice of club history.  The chairman, Darragh MacAnthony is still buzzing after securing the services of highly-rated manager Darren Ferguson until the year 2013.

Ferguson, who has attracted interest from Reading, QPR and West Brom this summer, signed a two-year extension to his current contract during the club's training trip to Marbella.

Darragh MacAnthony is hoping his manager's decision will kill off speculation about his future and enable him to concentrate on leading Peterborough United into the Premier League for the first time in the club's history.

Ferguson received a moderate pay rise as well as additional time in recognition of his achievement in securing back-to-back promotions for Peterborough United. His back-room team of Kevin Russell, Keith Oakes and Scott Taylor have also been awarded four-year deals.

Darragh MacAnthony said: "The contract has been improved to suit Darren and the club. The terms have been improved, but not by a silly amount as we have a budget to meet, and it also suits the club to tie him down for longer as there is no doubt he seems to be every club's number one pick when a job becomes available.

"To be fair to the gaffer, he loves it here and just wants to continue working with the players to see how far he can take them.

"Nine out of 10 managers would have run for the door for the West Brom and QPR jobs, but he didn't give them a second thought.

"And now we can all put the speculation to bed and get on with the job in hand which is going for our third promotion in a row and creating a bit of history for Posh.

"I took all the management staff out to celebrate on Thursday night and they were all in great form and just champing at the bit for the season to kick off.”

Darragh MacAnthony ended with "They are delighted with how our players are looking in training. They are also happy with how quickly the new players have settled in."
