In a bid to encourage people to join in with the community, the owners of the Guitar Forums are coming up with clever competitions that anyone is entitled to enter free of charge.
Previously to become a candidate in the competition any user simply needed to post 20 times before the end of the month. An administrator would then select the winner randomly using a method that allows the community make the selection.
A spokesperson stated:
"To make the selection of the winner of the prize we collated a list of all the candidates who had filled the criteria of making 20 posts that had contributed to the Guitar Forums. We assigned a random number to each member on the list and then asked posted within the forums asking for the next poster to selected a number from the range. The winner was then selected"
So far one lucky member has scooped the prize two months in a row and the last month saw the person calling the number be announced the winner!
This month at the Guitar Forums the competition has taken a slightly different turn. To encourage on topic discussion the candidates must open up 8 topics between now and the closing date which is 15th November 2010. The topic must have a minimum of 8 replies within it.
"We want to encourage debate about music and guitar and generally if the opening post is off topic people do not respond so much. This is why we have made the ruling that a minimum of 8 replies must follow which ensures the conversation has started!"
