SHIFTING GEARS Coleone’s Pizza Hosts “Ride for Life” Bikeathon to Benefit Lorain County ACS

Oct. 9, 2010 - PRLog -- Avon Lake, OH – What do pizza, sore legs and the American Cancer Society have in common?  

They’ll all be part of the 2010 Ride for Life 24-Hour Bikeathon.  

Coleone’s Pizza, in conjunction with Dr. and Mrs. Alex Zolli, is proud to host the fundraiser, in which cyclists will pedal continuously for 24 hours to raise money for the Lorain County chapter of the American Cancer Society.  The event, to be held in Coleone’s Pizza’s parking lot at 1480E Center Rd., Avon, will run from 3:00 p.m. on Friday, October 22nd to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 23rd.

You’re invited.  This family-friendly event promises lots of fun for a great cause.  Please drop by to provide some much-needed moral support for the riders, and to meet the Cleveland Indians’ own Travis Hafner, who will make an appearance on Friday evening.  Additionally, those who sponsor a rider or make a donation to the ACS can enjoy free pizza and ice cream, as well as a free bounce house and balloons for their kids.

When asked why an Avon Family-Owned Pizzeria would “shift gears” like this and host a 24-hour bikeathon, David Wittschen, owner of Coleone’s Pizza, replied simply, “Our family has been touched by cancer – has yours?  This bikeathon is the way our family has chosen to fight it.”

How can you get involved?

Donate.  On the days of the event, Coleone’s Pizza will accept cash, credit cards or checks made payable to the American Cancer Society.
Sponsor.  You can sponsor a rider by the hour or by the mile.
Ride.  Volunteer to pedal for an hour or two.  Just call David Wittschen at 440.263.4501 to schedule a time slot.  You can drop by Coleone’s to pick up a sponsor sheet, or download one at www.coleonespizza.net.
