PARAMEDIC TRAINING

One of Action Training Academy's core specialities and strengths is emergency medical care training. This process starts with basic first aid training and progresses to entry level paramedic / emergency services training, the Basic Ambulance Assistant or BAA course.
The three owners of the business are all Advanced Life Support paramedics who have been actively involved in paramedic training in South Africa for the last 18 years. We are able to facilitate and introduce learners or professional practitioners to the appropriate training routes or institutions, through our networks of contacts and associations.

FIRST AID TRAINING
At Action Training, we offer a range of first aid training, designed to teach skills for any situation where medical assistance may be required.
First Aid training course is an entry level emergency first aid medical course, which covers a broad variety of emergency medical subjects / modules. The course provides the learner with the theoretical information and practical skills necessary to initiate and apply first aid treatment in the workplace and or home environment along with the knowledge of what first aid supplies are required.
First aid has a course progression pathway, whereby a learner progresses from Level 1 which focuses on basic first aid, to level 2 and then level 3. A learner also has the option of completing combination courses i.e. level 1, 2 and level 3 combination courses. Learners are taught how to perform emergency life support skills and how to apply these skills in emergency situations Skills such as safety, contacting the emergency services, CPR, Chocking, stopping bleeding, treating burns and fractures etc. The courses include learner manuals, audio visual aids, simulated scenarios and practical exercise.
Emergency first aid is an invaluable skill for both the workplace and the domestic environment. Our courses provide information not only on the practical handling of a medical emergency, but also on the first aid kit that should be kept close on hand.
After completing first aid level 3 the next step in progression would be to complete the Basic Ambulance Assistant course, which is entry level into the emergency medical services.

BASIC AMBULANCE ASSISTANT TRAINING COURSE
The Basic Ambulance Assistant training course is offered to individuals who wish to pursue a professional career in the emergency management services. Once the learner has been assessed as competent on the course, they may register with the Health Professions Council of South Africa, as a professional emergency care practitioner.
Course Contents – Learner Program Outcomes
An introduction to Ambulance service responsibilities with instruction in:
   Professional practice
   Traumatology
   Emergency Care
   Ambulance Technology
   Ambulance Practice

Medical management principles and techniques will be taught up to basic life support level including methods of airway control, cardio pulmonary resuscitation and the Emergency first aid of critically ill patients.
Candidates will also be introduced to the role of Ambulance service administration, rescue and technical support service. Thorough training in medical management principles is the basis to care in any crisis situation. However, the job of a professional emergency care practitioner is not complete without organizational administration to deal with an emergency. Management services comprise part of the courses run at Action Training Academy, and skills learned on these courses will ensure competence and correct handling in an emergency.

ACTION TRAINING ACADEMY'S (ATA) INTERNATIONAL TRAINING DIVISION
ATA’s International Training Division (ITD) specializes in emergency medicine, occupational medicine, occupational hygiene, technical rescue, industrial fire-fighting, health and safety training courses for professionals operating in remote and isolated environments (e.g. oil and gas, mining, infrastructure and construction).

Our core purpose is to equip these professionals with internationally certified courses that are generally regarded as being obligatory in respect of Health and Safety regulation compliance.
