Deep Red's Really Fruity Ideas

Oct. 7, 2010 - PRLog -- There have been strong cultural links between the UK and Portugal going back for generations.  So it’s not surprising that this cordial relationship is celebrated each year at the British Ambassador’s  residence in Lisbon for the Queen’s official Birthday Celebration, when 600 of the elite from politics and commerce are invited to enjoy an evening garden party.

The business side of the event is to showcase what’s best about Britain and a select group of firms from the UK are invited to exhibit.  Deep Red were approached by Lancashire based Vitorianos Gourmet Bakery to make their new products stand out from the crowd at this prestigious event.

Vitoriano’s is becoming well known in delicatessens, gourmet supermarkets and independent health food stores for its range of healthy, but extremely scrummy cookies but they wanted to showcase their new healthy product range of raw, gluten free fruit bars.  

Deep Red’s task was to create a new brand identity, eye-catching packaging and brochure.  All three where showcased at the Ambassador’s Garden Party.
Research showed that the key audience for the product is 25-55 women, although the brand must be attractive to a much wider audience, so it could not be overtly feminine or age related.  

Firstly, the Deep Red team created the name Fresca to uniquely reflect the Brazilian nationality of the owner and creator of the bars.  Celebratory colours and lots of movement in the design of the main female character made sure the packaging was attractive to the identified and wider profile of consumers.  Vitoriano’s told us ‘The bars are so moist and tasty and easy to eat on the move that even children are loving eating them, which is great for parents trying to get them eating the recommended five a day’.
Food proof packaging was therefore essential to keep the product in perfect condition and this had to incorporated in the design.

The Fresca range was really well received in Portugal by dignitaries and a number of specialist food buyers.  Nothing even similar is currently available, so it was crucial that Vitorianos’ message to promote these organic, vegan friendly raw bars was powerful and positive.

To be invited to such a prestigious event was a dream come true for Vitorianos and great recognition for their contribution to promoting healthy and natural foods in the UK.  Deep Red’s creative expertise exceeded expectations and delivered first class results in branding, packaging and marketing support materials used for the event.  

Following enquiries from some of Portugal’s biggest health and gourmet chains, the Fresca Fruit Bars are destined to be on the shelves in Europe as well as the UK.
