Follow on Google News | Enchong, Erich make audience laugh, cry and fall in love in “I Do”RP’s hottest new love team’s romantic comedy to screen in 6 U.S. cities starting October 15
By: Nerissa M. Fernandez Ever since they electrified TFC viewers with their chemistry as young teens in love in Katorse (Fourteen), Enchong and Erich have moved on to solidify their status as the on-screen couple to watch for, having been awarded recently as the Most Promising Loveteam of the Year at the 41st Entertainment Box Office Awards of the Philippines. The couple teamed up anew in two other successful teleseryes: Tanging Yaman (The Only Treasure) and currently in the top-rated Magkaribal (Rivals). They also starred in Paano Ko Sasabihin (How Do I Tell You), an indie film that won three awards in the 5th Cinema One Originals Digital Movie Festival in the Philippines, including Audience Choice Awards. Enchong’ Is finding true love a choice or fate? In I Do, Yumi Punongbayan (Erich) has been searching for a soul mate for as long as she can remember. She meets Lance Tan (Enchong) and is convinced that he’s the one. Lance, though, thinks everything in love is a choice. But the young lovers agree on one thing: whatever the challenges that come their way, their love for each other should be able to hurdle all. Until… Yumi gets pregnant. Her parents want a wedding pronto. The traditional Filipino-Chinese parents of Lance want a Chinese bride for their only son. Yumi is bent on marrying her college sweetheart. Lance is sweating bullets over making the hardest decision in his life. Meanwhile, Yumi’s loyal friend – and aspiring lover - (played by Janus Del Prado) seems to be changing Yumi’s mind with his endless litany of brain-messing love analogies like, “Ang pag-ibig ay parang computer virus; sinisira lahat ng pingahirapan mo (Love is like a computer virus; it ruins everything you’ve worked hard for).” Will girl get boy? Will boy choose girl? Is having a child out of wedlock reason enough to say “I do”? Does true love really conquer all? “With the box-office success of I Do in the Philippines, the Enchong-Erich tandem has emerged as a bona fide contender for hottest young love team. We want TFC fans in the U.S., who have loyally followed the rise to fame of this duo, to witness their showbiz milestones. I Do is one great opportunity. To top it all, in a very smart and entertaining way, the film also touches on relevant issues like early pregnancies, teenage marriage, culture clashes and the like. It’s a wonderful film for the family,” said Kerwin Du, ABS-CBN International’ Joining Enchong and Erich in I Do are Pokwang, Dennis Padilla, Jun Urbano, Nash Aguas, Janus del Prado, Ricardo Cepeda, Isay Alvarez, among others. The film also introduces the funny and charming Melai Cantiveros, Pinoy Big Brother 2009 winner.
