Follow on Google News | It's Time to Talk Turkey About Holiday WinesA Wide Range of Wines to Choose From LongSword Vineyard:
By: Midtown Marketing Group, Inc. on hand for impromptu get togethers, as well as, planned black tie holiday parties? Well, that depends somewhat on personal preference, budgets and which wines your guests have favored in the past. But to be sure, you can have a well-stacked wine list of your own to manage everything from party platters to formal dinner parties. And there are three you definitely want on that list. Nothing kicks off the party like Longsword Vineyard’s semi-sparkling chardonnay called Accolade, a mouthful of fruit with a hint of sweetness and just enough effervescence to tickle your tongue. This fruity-driven, citrus-based makes a move towards apples and pineapples with a subtle touch of pear on the palate. This wine covers all areas of food; it is wonderful for a Sunday brunch, afternoon luncheon, a midnight supper and it is not called the wedding wine for nothing. It is great with chocolate. Serving Suggestions: Slightly Chilled. Retails for $20.00. This one has a style all its own- Fly High Vineyard’s Pinot Gris is so new that it has not been entered in any competitions. It was just released this April. When it comes to being able to pair wines with food, this stellar wine is my favorite. You'll find that citrus and tropical tones take palate precedence with a touch of creamyness displayed mid-palate and finishing with solid acidity. A delight to serve on Turkey Day. Serving Suggestions: Serve between 58 and 62 degrees. Retails for $19.00. And by all means take a dessert break with Longsword Vineyard’s Conversation dessert wine, a “Vin de Glace’” e.g., wine from/of ice. The juice is frozen solid, removing water and concentrating it (unlike traditional ice wines, in which the grapes are allowed to freeze on the vines.) Beguilingly sweet, this dessert wine bursts with spiced peach flavors. Complex essences of spice and fruit linger long after the first taste. Or serve over sliced peaches, strawberries or raspberries. It is wonderful poured over a sorbet or with chocolate. Serving Suggestions: This wine is made in lots of 70 cases. Its local and wine club following ensures it sells out every year with people waiting for the next release. You’ll have to move fast for these holiday wines because they certainly will. www.longswordvineyard.com End
