Oct. 6, 2010 - PRLog -- Wine lovers will be treated to a deliciously unique one-night-only culinary event at the Michigan Wine Dinner held on Wednesday, October 27th at The Signature Room at the 95th. Executive Chef Patrick Sheerin has created a decadent five course meal expertly paired with wines from L. Mawby Winery and Good Harbor Vineyards, both located on the scenic Leelanau Peninsula in Michigan. A reception will begin at 6 p.m. with dinner served at 6:30 p.m.

The dinner will feature five wines that express the diversity of Michigan winemaking. Beginning with a fruity sparkling rosé and ending with a uniquely tart cherry wine, the dinner will also showcase traditional red and white wines. Each dish is complemented by a specific wine meant to bring out the nuances and enhance the flavors and unique characteristics of both the food and the wine. Both wineries will be represented at the dinner with the founder and winemaker Lawrence Mawby of L. Mawby winery, and winemaker Sam Simpson of Good Harbor Vineyards in attendance.

Passed hors d’oeuvres
Truffle deviled eggs, smoked salmon and boursin on dark rye and German butterball potato soup shooters, paired with Mawby Vineyards ‘SEX’ Sparking Rose

First Course
Toasted wheat berry risotto with a poached egg and crispy pancetta, paired with Mawby Vineyards Blanc de Blancs

Second Course
Citrus cured hamachi with vermouth poached clams and topped with whipped grapefruit, paired with Good Harbor Pinot Grigio 2007

Third Course
Curried carrot and coconut soup containing Thai meatballs and petite herbs, paired with Good Harbor Riesling 2008

Fourth Course
Juniper brined venison served with glazed salsify and rutabaga puree, paired with Good Harbor Red Wine 2007

Dessert Course
Bittersweet chocolate cake drizzled with sun dried cherry reduction, paired with Good Harbor Cherry Wine 2008
