Sarasota Parks Dept. Brings Big Shot Volleyball Series Comes to Siesta Key

Oct. 6, 2010 - PRLog -- The Rider Sandals Big Shot Volleyball Series, presented by Native Eyewear, will wrap up the 2010 season at Siesta Key on October 16-17. Teams from throughout the country will compete for $5,000 cash prizes. Tournament play will start at 9 am with finals scheduled for 5 pm each day. Admission is free for all spectators.

The Sarasota County Visitors and Convention Bureau is sponsoring the Siesta Key tournament in conjunction with Gold Coast Eagle Distributor’s, Bud Light and the Siesta key Holiday inn Express. Over 250 teams from 20 states and Canada are expected. The event is run in conjunction with the Sarasota County Parks and Recreation Dept.

Top men’s players include Ft. Lauderdale resident Nick Lucena and Miami Beach’s Adrian C arambula, Lucena has won two AVP Pro Beach Volleyball tour tournaments. Additional top male players include Tampa’s Matt Henderson, Orlando’s Billy Chenoweth, South Carolina’s Jake Elliott and NY’s Ihor Akinshyn

Top female player’s include Tara Kuk (Clearwater) and Brooke Sweat (Estero Beach) who finished 2nd at the US Open Beach Volleyball championships in Manhattan beach, CA. Additional top female players include Siesta Key stars Megan Wallin/Chara Harris and NY’s Dana Fiume

The Big Shot Volleyball Series held 35 events leading to the Aug. 28-29 $8,000 Big Shot Championships at Bally’s Casino in Atlantic City, NJ and the $5,000 EEVB Nationals Oct. in Siesta Key.

Separate divisions will be held for players of intermediate and novice levels on Saturday and Sunday. The $60 entry fee entitles players to a full day of tournament play, an official Rider Sandals Big Shot Volleyball t-shirt, admission to the Saturday evening player’s party and a chance to win merchandise prizes from tournament sponsors 4C Totally light 2Go, Rider Sandals, Native Eyewear, Bud Light, Siesta Key Holiday Inn Express, Sarasota Convention & Visitors Bureau, Rox Volleyball, 1st Place Volleyball, Wilson Sports, Venus Swimwear, Atlantic City Convention & Visitors Authority, Bally’s Casino, Vincere Sand Socks, Sweet Tomatoes, Park & Sun net systems, Dig Magazine, Sportime, AVPNext, and Sixpak.com Volleygear. The public can met the players Saturday evening at the official Corona Light Player’s Party in Siesta Key Village.
