Oct. 6, 2010 - PRLog -- Arabic Studies International (ASI) was established to foster a greater understanding of the Arabic fields of study and to create collaboration among Arabic professionals, practitioners, translators, scholars, authors, teachers, and those interested in these fields.

Members can create their own profile complete with photo albums, blog entries, announcements, and members can post in both public and member-only forums.  Regional and national conferences are planned with special topics, workshops, and presentations of research in the field.  Members would be eligible to attend at a discounted rate. Students can find information about fellowships, conferences, grants, scholarships, and more, while networking with other professionals.  Job listings are also available for all members and visitors to the site.

Dina Elbahesh, ASI co-founder, originally from Palestine, who now resides in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, announced "ASI is growing quickly and we are excited to provide our members with a network and forum for promoting themselves, their businesses or organizations, and having a good time learning about events and news in the Arabic world."

ASI is a membership based/membership driven organization developed to promote collaboration, networking and communication across the varied fields of Arabic Studies.    Based in the United States, the organization is open to members worldwide.  Individual Membership benefits include networking among Arabic Studies professionals and students; access to various discussion forums including those focused on culture, linguistics, literature, research, and pedagogy; job postings, a customizable member profile, opportunities to post information about your publications, add blog articles, receive a monthly E-Newsletter, and reduced registration rates for future conferences.  Plans are underway for Arabic-related workshops and speaker sessions in various locations around the United States.  Additional details can be found at the ASI web site, http://www.arabicstudiesonline.org.  The organization is managed by Vietaly Enterprises, Inc. of Birmingham, Alabama, http://www.vietaly.com.
