Oct. 6, 2010 - PRLog -- A charity dining evening organised by Hitchin-based businessman and entrepreneur Dr Bipin Patel was attended by over 170 people and raised over £7500 which will be donated to Barnardo’s and the Multiple Sclerosis Trust.

Bipin, who has a passion for authentic Indian food, teamed up with Hitchin Priory’s head chef Steve Hepworth to create an ‘Indian Summer’s Evening’ which was held at the historic conference centre near to the town centre.

Guests were entertained by a display of traditional Indian dancing followed by a banquet of unusual but original Indian dishes created by Bipin with his own authentic natural ingredients and superbly prepared with Steve’s culinary expertise.

The exotic meal was followed by a charity auction which included a holiday in the Lake District, a helicopter ride, an executive night at Hitchin priory, a five course dining experience with private chef and butler, authentic Indian cooking lessons, and a variety of other prizes including signed shirts donated by Olympic gold medallist Chris Hoy and championship winning Leicester Tigers Rugby Club.

One of the highlights of the evening was a surprise visit from the remarkable Chris Moon MBE. Chris was formerly a soldier who survived being captured by the Khmer Rouge and lost an arm and a leg in a landmine explosion yet runs some of the world’s most challenging marathons and has raised enormous sums of money for charity.

Bipin was delighted that the evening went so well. He commented “I was overwhelmed by the generosity of those who donated the prizes, of everybody who attended and to Chartridge Conference Company who provided the venue free of charge. The location was ideal and there was a real party atmosphere all evening. For people to enjoy themselves and at the same time help such deserving causes made it a memorable occasion for me.”
