Oct. 5, 2010 - PRLog -- Pomona, CA. October 5, 2010 – Calling all nerds, gamers, geeks, and freaks: Bob Knows Best is presenting NERDFEST Y2K10 at the Glass House in Pomona on Saturday October 9th at 7pm. Tickets can be purchased at the Glass House box office the day of the show for $14. The show is in itself a mini-festival, featuring five local LA and OC bands that claim to represent all that is geeky.

In addition to Bob Knows Best, the show's lineup includes synth-pop space rockers Glen and the Sunshine Gang, video game orchestra Tanuki Suit Riot, super dorky ska/punk band Four-Fingered Mel, and modern day classic rock geeks The Dirty Pints. The Glass House, an 800 capacity venue in Pomona, CA, is hosting the event. The Glass House has been a strong source of quality local and national live music for decades.

“Nerd and geeks tend to embrace and obsess over the strangest things,” says Matt Van Gelder, saxophonist and front man of Tanuki Suit Riot. “Things like video games, sci-fi, really just about anything that is out of the ordinary. To me, that's what Nerdfest is all about. Coming together and embracing our quirks.”

“Our geeky obsession? Simply put: Space. And spandex! Unrestrictive, uninhibited, and very revealing,” says Tyler Trautman, vocalist of Glen and the Sunshine Gang. Dressed in synthetic spandex, the band is a fine example of a typical geek obsession with science fiction and futuristic space adventure.

For the members of Bob Knows Best, the event is a personal musing of growing up an outcast in mainstream society. “Most of us were dorks in high school,” says Graham Beightol, singer and rhythm guitarist of Bob Knows Best. “This show embraces how we grew up in the very same music venue we grew up in. The core members of Bob Knows Best went to school in the San Gabriel Valley and came here to the Glass House to see our favorite bands play. It's honor to have them host Nerdfest.”

Beightol went on to say that Nerdfest is meant to be a congregation of like-minded people who simply wish to be themselves and enjoy some great music that is a little outside the norm in terms of style and humor. No word on whether Nerdfest would become an annual event. “That would be a great thing, but we're more focused on putting on a dynamite show this Saturday,” says Beightol.
