Last year, more than 550 people came out in the rain to the sale, which is open to the community at large. “This year, we want bargain hunters from all over to shop ‘til they drop,” said Tracy Mohr, chair of the Rummage Sale. “There are many hidden and not-so-hidden treasures!”
Shoppers will find everything from furniture, antiques and housewares, to adult, professional and children’s clothing, to gently used toys and sports equipment. They can also purchase baked goods from the Great American Bake Sale with proceeds going to the Stop Childhood Hunger organization.
“Last year, the Rummage Sale raised $6,000 for Centenary missions,” said Mohr. “This year, there is increased need, and our goal is to double that amount in order to serve more people.”
The church community comes together for a month before the sale to donate items, sort, tag and set up in preparation for the big event. If you are interested in volunteering, contact Tracy Mohr at tmohr1@triad.rr.com. For more information about the sale, visit Centenary’s Web site at http://www.centenaryonline.com.
