Oct. 5, 2010 - PRLog -- Cleveland, OH, October 05, 2010 -- Oil Skimmers, Inc., the worldwide leader in removing petroleum-based oils, vegetable oil, animal fats, greases, and oily wastes that float on the surface of water will be present at the Water Environment Federation’s Technical Exhibition & Conference (WEFTEC) in New Orleans, LA between October 2nd and October 6th, 2010.  The annual WEFTEC show, the world’s largest annual water quality exhibition, enables professionals to interact with the water quality community to exchange information on the latest in research, training, solutions, and cutting-edge technologies and services.  The conference will feature two special sessions. The first session is called “National Environmental Priorities” and will have the U.S. EPA Deputy Administrator as a speaker. It will cover the EPA’s current policies, priorities, and programs, emphasizing water issues. The second session is called “Deepwater Horizon: Gulf of Mexico Oil Spill Response and its Effects on the Water Environment,” which will include several speakers discussing the United States’ response efforts in dealing with oil spill emergencies, and also the short-and long-term effects on the environment. New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu is expected to share his experiences with the Gulf Oil Spill.  Thousands of water professionals and exhibitors will be attending the 2010 WEFTEC show.

Ken Gray, Oil Skimmers, Inc.’s Western Region Sales Manager will be on-hand to answer any application questions that may arise while visitors watch a Model 6V Brill™ oil-recovery system that will be demonstrating the effectiveness of these tube-type oil skimmers. Oil sticks to the outside of a specially formulated, closed-loop collector tube that snakes over and around debris.  The tube is lifted out of the water and is drawn through scrapers that remove the oil.  The clean tube is returned to the water surface to gather more oil.  Tubes withstand temperatures up to 200o F, and will not fracture in freezing conditions.  Designed with non-clogging, long-lasting components, the Model 6V unit runs unattended 24 hours a day, year-round, and is the most dependable, cost-effective and uncomplicated solution for removing waste oil from water.

The oil recovery systems from Oil Skimmers, Inc. can be customized and sized to any specification.  This includes mounting systems, material of construction, motor voltage and speed, discharge, et cetera. Systems can remove as much as 100 gallons of waste oil per hour. All waste oil can be decanted into drums to be stored or recycled and sold.  A durable and simple construction ensures a lifespan of 25 to 30 years for these oil skimmers.
