Follow on Google News | CLWSC Allowed to Proceed With Rate Change Despite Notification ErrorsDespite acknowledged errors in the notice sent to its customers, Canyon Lake Water Service has informed the majority of its customers that they will not be altering the effective date for their water rate increases.
By: CEWR Noting errors in their notification sent to customers on August 27th, 2010, CLWSC stated that, “those errors …apply to all CLWSC customers. They are not substantive and will not alter the effective date of the rate change”. The Texas Commission for Environmental Quality (TCEQ) advised CLWSC of an error in their statement of "old rates" for their Glenwood customers. The Glenwood customers of CLWSC have a different rate structure than all others supported by CLWSC. Therefore, CLWSC was permitted to again give notice the Glenwood residents and delay their implementation date. For the remainder of CLWSC’s customers, the original August 27th Notice was deemed valid and CLWSC was allowed to proceed with their October 27, 2010 implementation date. A corrected version of the notification was not mailed to all customers but was made available via CLWSC website. The Coalition for Equitable Water Rates (CEWR) expects no impact to it’s submission of more than 1000 petition signatures to the Texas Commission of Environmental Quality (TCEQ), protesting the water rate increase. # # # The Coalition for Equitable Water Rates (CEWR) is a non-profit organization of local residents representing residential and business interests to insure that fair and competitive water rates are provided by the Canyon Lake Water Service Company.
