Oct. 4, 2010 - PRLog -- Reston, VA - SCS Engineers (SCS) has been awarded its fourth consecutive prime contract to support the United States Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Landfill Methane Outreach Program (LMOP).  The program is part of the EPA Office of Atmospheric Programs , Climate Change Division for Technical and Outreach Support Services for Reducing Emissions from Landfills.

EPA’s LMOP is a voluntary assistance program that helps landfill owners and operators to reduce the emission of methane from solid waste disposal facilities by encouraging the recovery and use of landfill gas as a renewable, green energy source. LMOP forms partnerships with communities, landfill owners, utilities, power marketers, states, project developers, tribes, and non-profit organizations to overcome barriers to project development by helping them assess project feasibility and market the benefits of project development to the community.

Through this new contract SCS will continue its support of EPA in the development of global landfill gas emission reduction projects at landfills in both domestic and international locations.  Ms. Dana Murray, PE, will serve as overall director of SCS’s LMOP contract.

SCS has been a prime contractor for the EPA LMOP since 1995, conducting hundreds of assignments in the United States and abroad.  The firm looks forward to supporting the EPA LMOP for another 5 years.
