Oct. 1, 2010 - PRLog -- Wakefield, Mass. - US  – SDL, the leading provider of Global Information Management solutions, announced today the release of SDL Trisoft™ 2011 for DITA, the XML standard for technical writing. With this new release of the company's Component Content Management software, SDL offers advanced capabilities that solidify the company's leadership in the DITA market.

The adoption of SDL Trisoft by large global companies has accelerated significantly this past year,as more companies recognize the business benefits of DITA adoption and seek a solution with advanced capabilities to address their needs. One key capability and a particular strength of SDL Trisoft is its ability to manage large volumes and variations of DITA topics that comprise a company's technical product information set. The new release of SDL Trisoft extends SDL's leadership positionby offering support for the important new DITA 1.2 standard, currently in beta release, and on track for release by the OASIS technical committee in 2010.

"This is one of the most significant releases of SDL Trisoft in the lifetime of the product," said Frank Closset, CTO of SDL's Structured Content Technologies division."Through a combination of agile development and feedback from our customer community, we identified key new capabilities in the Component Content Management system that enable more efficient reuse and development of content, and that lay the groundwork for interactive dynamic publishing."

"We are long-time users of SDL Trisoft," said Catherine Lyman, director, information engineering, NetApp."The upcoming SDL Trisoft release (2011) includes many enhancements and capabilities that will allow our writing community to work more efficiently and therefore have more time to focus on our user requirements."With DITA 1.2 support, SDL Trisoft can now be used out-of-the-box with the DITA Learning and Training specialization, the new task modeland the machine-industry specialization. Users can also take advantage of powerful new ways of managing content variations and achieving reuse with DITA 1.2’s new capabilities of "keyref", "conkeyref", "conref push" and "conref ranges".

In addition to supporting the DITA 1.2 standard, SDL Trisoft offers many new authoring and publishing capabilities that significantly enhance the user experience. Usersof the SDL Trisoft Web client will enjoy an entirely new look and feel, making writers’ online experience more enjoyable and efficient. Authors will also benefit from a new search architecture that gives them the ability to search for information faster and with more granular precision. The new search includes the ability to search and find content inside XML elements and attributes, variables and conditions and to identify precisely the context in which content resides. Lead authors will also enjoy enhanced capabilities offered in the SDL Trisoft Publication Manager that save them time developing content and releasing product publications. The new capabilities include the ability to save a new version ofan open publication, to check in / out from the Browse Repository dialog, to find most recently used items, to save output formats in the next version of a publication, to see an InContext Preview of Content, to add additional fields to the Baseline tab and to autocomplete items that are added when building a publication.

To address the growth and adoption of DITA in Japan, SDL Trisoft is also releasing a version of its desktop clients as Publication Manager and Authoring Bridge in Japanese.
SDL Trisoft now supports Adobe®Flash® in the Publication Manager, enabling synchronization of technical content with Flash and other multimedia graphics, and provides a foundation for dynamic interactive technical documentation that can be delivered to the Web. To support interaction with the community of content consumers, SDL Trisoft now supports round-tripping of comments from SDL LiveContent™ back to SDL Trisoft, providing a closed-loop feedback mechanism between the community and the information developer.  SDL Trisoft is also now integrated with SDL XPP™, the company's advanced XML Professional Publisherfor customers who have high volumes or advanced layout requirements.
Addressing growing requirements and expectations of IT organizations, SDL Trisoft provides support for Transparent Data Encryption in SQL Server 2008, as well as platform support for Windows Server 2008 R2 64-bit.
