Sept. 30, 2010 - PRLog -- ISOS Group, a U.S. GRI Certified Training Partner of the Global Reporting Initiative and Concept Green of New Mexico have teamed up to co-host a GRI Certification in Sustainability Reporting course in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The course takes place December 2-3 at the Hotel Andaluz, one of the most environmentally sustainable hotels and conference venues in the United States.

The Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) is an international non-governmental organization that maintains the GRI Sustainability Reporting Guidelines. Formed in 1997 and now in its third version (G3), the GRI guidelines are the world’s generally accepted reporting practices for disclosing organizational sustainability. Reporting organizations, analysts, investors, social responsibility, ethics and environmental watch groups look to GRI-compliant reporting as a mark of an organization’s credibility, transparency and commitment to sustainability.

Unlike traditional financial reporting, GRI-based sustainability disclosures discuss and measure an organization’s environmental, social and economic impacts and interactions within its community of stakeholders. The GRI guidelines result in sustainability reporting that is credible, measurable, transparent and balanced. Carrie McChesney, Concept Green CEO observes, “GRI reporting, when done correctly, can transform an organization from within. The reporting process often triggers internal management dialog about what sustainability means to the organization, who its stakeholders are and what they think, and how the organization manages and measures its sustainability efforts.”

Albuquerque’s GRI Certification in Sustainability Reporting course walks participants through every step of the reporting process, from report planning to stakeholder engagement and selecting the sustainability performance measures that support the report’s narratives. Participants will learn how to select and link reporting content to ongoing improvement cycles and how to determine the GRI Application levels for coverage self-assessments.

According to ISOS Group Co-Founder Nancy Mancilla, “This certification is not only useful to organizations that want to improve their sustainability reporting efforts, but to consultants, watch groups and academics passionate about infusing sustainability into systems thinking. GRI Certification in Sustainability Reporting prepares participants for a more sustainable economy and places them ahead of the sustainability curve.”

The Albuquerque training includes bonus presentations on environmental sustainability, with water and climate change as key topics appropriate to the southwestern location. The Hotel Andaluz, having spent $30 million remodeling the historically registered site to LEED-Gold standards, provides the perfect backdrop for the GRI training course. Winner of the 2010 achievement award for recycling and recently named “Lifestyle Hotel of the Year” by the Boutique & Lifestyle Lodging Association and Hospitality Design Magazine, the Hotel Andaluz is proud to host the 2010 GRI Certification Training in Sustainability course this December.
