Follow on Google News | Cui Fei: Solo Exhibition and Artist LectureThe Warehouse Gallery is currently exhibiting a solo museum exhibition by Cui Fei, closing on Nov. 6, 2010. Cui Fei will discuss her new site-specific works on Oct. 12 at 6:30PM at Shemin Auditorium inside Shaffer Art Building, Syracuse University.
With the assistance of ten Syracuse University students from the Sculpture Program and the Illustration Program in the Department of Art, the Graduate Program in Museum Studies in the Department of Design, and the Department of Transmedia, Cui created over a period of seven days her wall drawing and two installations on site, thus turning The Warehouse Gallery again into a form of laboratory. For Tracing the Origin VIII, Cui reprinted images of twigs that were transferred by students from the paper onto the floor, using pencil, transfer paper, sand, and chakpurs. For Manuscript of Nature V_Syracuse, Cui poured 300 pounds of salt onto the floor in the main gallery on which she placed the twigs to allude to Chinese writing following the reading order from top to bottom, right to left. Though widely exhibited, this is her first solo museum exhibition. The exhibition runs until November 6. There will be an artist lecture on October 12, 6:30PM where Cui Fei will discuss her new site-specific works on exhibit at The Warehouse Gallery. The lecture will be held at Shemin Auditorium in the Shaffer Art Building, Syracuse University. The Warehouse Gallery is open and free to the public. It is located in downtown Syracuse, NY at 350 W.
