Sept. 30, 2010 - PRLog -- Saturday, October 23rd marks the third annual Kids Are Heroes Day to be celebrated at the Francis Scott Key Mall in Frederick, Maryland.  Children from the Kids Are Heroes web site are invited to come to center court in the mall share information about their charities and inspire other children in attendance.  As of this writing there are fifteen heroes signed up to be presenting, including Diana Onyonyi, a fifteen-year-old from Nairobi, Kenya.  Diana raised over $87,000 USD to help build a library and a dormitory for the Karura School in West Nairobi.  During her stay she will be speaking at various schools, interviewed on live television and she also will get to meet the Kenyan Ambassador to the US.  Besides raising so much money, as a Global Teen Leader, Diana was asked to "put forward her views" on the recently ratifiied constitution of Kenya in the midst of Kenya's President Mwai Kibaki and Kenya's Prime Minister Raila Odinga, among others.  She will be delivering a speech entitled "Peace is Possible" on Kids Are Heroes Day.

Other heroes in attendance will be Adele Taylor and Nicholas Giordano from  New Jersey, Calista Pierce, Austin Pierce, Kennedy Kulish and Jordan Brown from Pennsylvania, Carter Ries and Olivia Ries from Georgia, Evan Frank from West Virginia and Jacob Krause, Emma Franceschina, John Sun, Casey Landahl and MaryMargaret O’Neill from Maryland.

Levar Fisher, a former Arizona Cardinal turned youth motivational speaker will also be on hand that day delivering one of his powerful yet fun speeches to all in attendance.

In recognition of their efforts the local government has officially declared October 23rd as "Kids Are Heroes Day".

Kids Are Heroes (http://www.kidsareheroes.org) was founded in 2008 by then 9-year-old MaryMargaret O'Neill.  It started as a project she and her dad worked on together and blossomed into an international non-profit featuring over 100 young philanthropists from all over the world.  By showcasing these wonderful children and their selfless deeds, the pair have been inspiring other children to get involved and do something on their own.
