Exterior styling tweaks include a redesigned and more aggressive front bumper, as well as a rear bumper diffuser housing twin exhaust tailpipes.
Five-spoke 18-inch alloy wheels fill the wheel arches, thanks to 15mm lowered suspension which is also stiffer for improved road holding.
Volvo’s Corner Traction Control (CTC) system has been introduced, which brakes an inside wheel during cornering to transfer power to the outside wheels, give the car greater agility and resistance to understeer – where the car runs wide.
The Dynamic Stability and Traction Control (DSTC) also features a sports setting which allows a greater degree of skidding before it will intervene.
UK customers are big fans of tweaked R-Design Volvos, and they now account for 25 per cent of all its new car sales and as many as 60 per cent of sales in some of its model lines.
