New Web Designer finds Imagemakers Using the Tools he Designs

Sept. 29, 2010 - PRLog -- When Steven Vondruska decided to move to Manhattan with his girlfriend, Abree Carty, who is attending Kansas State University’s School of Veterinary Medicine, he turned to the medium he knew best – the internet – to begin his job search in the area.

   “I found Imagemakers in my search of web-based agencies in the Manhattan area.  After sending them my application, Mary (Foster, project manager for Imagemakers) suggested I get settled into the area then contact them again,” Vondruska said.

   Vondruska, an Ohio native, has always been interested in computers and technology.  He started designing websites at age 13, and at 16 he designed and published his own functioning content management system and SQL database.  After graduating from high school in 2006 Vondruska attended the University of Toledo.  But it wasn’t long until companies started knocking on his door.  He soon accepted a full time position with an interactive company in Cleveland.  Since then Vondruska has worked for a wide range of companies, from a large regional bank to a small start up firm, all in the Cleveland area.

   But with Abree moving to Manhattan, and Vondruska deciding to join her, it was time to relocate and focus on finding a good fit for his experience and background.   Once settled he took Foster up on her suggestion to contact Imagemakers again about possible employment.

   “And I’m glad I did.  Dan (Holmgren, creative director of Imagemakers) called me in for an interview and it seemed like a good fit for both of us, because here I am,” said Vondruska, who started full time with the company in late August.

   He has already proven himself as an asset to the award winning design firm.

   “Steven has a ‘get in there and figure it out’ attitude which would benefit any company, but is especially important for us.  He really immersed himself into our team and has already done some great work,” Foster said.

   Holmgren is also impressed with how quickly Vondruska has begun producing quality work.

   “We are always looking for talented web and graphic designers, but when we find someone with the talent and experience that Steven has, who can also fit into our team concept and pace of work, we know we have found someone who will help us continue to provide our clients with the highest quality of work possible,” Holmgren said.
