3D Film Festival (3DFF) and the Insight Media University are pleased to announce the 3D Academy workshop series "3D From Lens to Screen" at the upcoming 3D Film Festival Hollywood, September 30 - October 3, 2010.

Sept. 29, 2010 - PRLog -- 3D Film Festival (3DFF) and the Insight Media University are pleased to announce the 3D Academy workshop series "3D From Lens to Screen" at the upcoming 3D Film Festival Hollywood.

The 2-day event will be held during the 4-day 3D Film Festival (September 30 - October 3), in Los Angeles, California. The workshop series will be held on Friday, October 1st and Saturday, October 2nd at the RealD Theater at the Los Angeles Film School.

A sessions of intermediate and basic 3D workshops are planned, geared at film students and industry professionals in content creation and post production, as well as others with a need to know about 3D in professional and consumer applications. Workshops offer in-depth knowledge about 3D topics. Discounted STUDENT registration rates available!

Friday October 1st

2D to 3D: A Producers Guide to the Universe of Conversion
Featuring speakers Damian Wader (In-Three), Charlotte Huggins (journey 3D), Buzz Hayes (Sony), Jeff Mainard (Piranha 3D) and Alex Winter.

In-Three’s Damian Wader will host an experienced mix of 3D filmmakers from works including Piranha, G-Force and Journey to the Center of the Earth.  We will look at several different perspectives on the production of Converted 3D content, from working on a tight deadline and budget, to how it works in connection with shooting stereo.

3DTV: Content & Distribution Panel
Featuring speakers Ethan Schur (TD Vision), Chris Craft (Hello!), Angela W. Gyetvan (3ality Digital), Kristina Warner (RealD), Eric Edmeades (Kerner).

This panel will be asked many questions about trends and longevity of the 3D content creation and distribution for TV, internet, theatrical and more.   We will discover what aspects of the industry will remain traditional, and where will we see the most change.

Designer 3D: Eyewear for a New Generation
Featuring speakers Michael Williams (Xpand ), RealD, David Johnson (Marchon 3D ).

Where technology meets fashion.  Our panelists are global leaders in 3D eyewear and each of them will bring a different technology and new perspective to the conversation.  We will discuss the present and future of Active, Passive, Shutter, and Polarized glasses within each of their markets.

3D Motion Capture and Pre-Visualization – Better Tools for Better 3D
Featured speakers include Jason Chen (Director/ Stereographer - founder JC3D), Reuben Langdon (Stunt Coordinator/ Stunts - founder JC3D), Brian Garbellini (Director of Photography/ Stereographer - founder JC3D).

Spend an hour with Motion Capture specialist Jason Chen who was the Facial Capture Technician of Avatar.  His panel will explore the most cutting edge motion capture and pre-visualization techniques for stereoscopic 3D live action film making.  Our audience will gain a unique perspective from a 3D DP who chooses specific visualization and hardware tools to create better 3D.

The Future of 3D Advertising
Speakers include Sheira Rees-Davies (Hello!), Angela W. Gyetvan (3ality Digital), Ken Venturi (National Cinemedia), Sylvia Versace (Technicolor),
Moderated by Alex Ben Block from Hollywood Reporter.
 
The average human eye retains far more information from a 3D image than a 2D version, giving advertisers far more to consider when designing their next campaign.  Hollywood Reporter, Alex Ben Block, will moderate this passionate group of industry leaders through a discussion about the future of 3D advertising.
