The winter is nearly here, don’t stall get your home insulated and keep warm this winter

Sept. 29, 2010 - PRLog -- Well we can now feel the winter coming in fast, so our attention must be turned to keeping our homes warm, but many homes around the country are operating less efficient than other homes around them and the reason is that they have installed Cavity Wall Insulation and Loft Insulation and they have also had their boiler properly serviced.

A huge proportion of the heat lost from the home is through poorly insulated homes, through the walls and the loft space and also windows and heating systems. As a householder we should keep close watch on the efficiency throughout the home. This will save us money year in year out, which in the current climate is something we should all be looking to do.

In most homes around one-third of the heat produced is lost very quickly through the walls, ceilings and roofs. So for the most of us a poorly insulated home means that nearly £1 out of every £3 spent on energy bills is being wasted. This doesn’t have to be, there is something all householders can do to rectify this.

What can we the average homeowner and householder do to save money without it costing a fortune?

Cavity Wall Insulation and Loft Insulation

The areas which should be examined firstly is the roof and the walls as this is where a large proportion of all heat escapes through these areas, these need to be checked to see if we can better the insulation. For houses with cavity walls, the Cavity Wall Insulation is recommended this involves using an Insulating material to fill the gap between the two outer walls.

For most homeowners and tenants you could qualify for a Home Insulation Grant, so for a small cost or no cost at all, you can easily have Cavity Wall Insulation and or Loft Insulation installed in your home. If it’s possible examine the depth of insulation you currently have, building regulations require 270mm however if your insulation is below 100mm you should  seriously consider improving this.

Grants are available to homeowners and tenants are entitled to grants and some may get upto a 100% grant towards the cost.
