Sept. 29, 2010 - PRLog -- Orchard Park, NY  - - College savings are tougher to come by as the economy struggles and the government is tightening financial aid. But one father from Western New York has successfully found a variety of ways to help his children make college more affordable without bankrupting the family finances.

He knew that if he was going to be able to send his children to college, even a state college, it would cost between $300,000 to $400,000. But with the help of his children, he found a variety of cost saving measures that have helped reduce this cost.

It took long hours of research over the past seven years as his oldest daughter began looking into college, but now with his youngest daughters (twins) entering college, he has mapped out a strategic plan of cost reductions.  It started while they were in high school and has now begun in earnest during college.

By following this plan step by step he has been able to save over $2,000 each year in tuition, over $1,500 annually in housing, over $750 per year on meals, over $400 per year on textbooks and over $600 annually with private scholarships. Several of his children have saved even more than this, not to mention that they have been able to take less in student loans as a result.

Then he realized he was sitting on a wealth of research and information that might be able to help other families do the same.  For the past six months he began organizing his thoughts, putting them down on paper and then he started writing.

The book is finished and it will show you the actual steps that he and his children followed and the strategies they are using to:

1. Reduce or eliminate student loans.
2. Save on tuition, housing, meals and textbooks.
3. Increase your chances of scholarship success.
4. Graduate on time … or early.
5. An much more.
