Its all-new body remains faithful to the low slung, coupe look of the original CLS, with its long bonnet and narrow, frameless side windows. But it also incorporates nods to later Mercedes saloons, with a row of bumper-mounted daytime running lights similar to those found on the latest Mercedes E-Class and rear wing bulges like those of the larger S-Class.
Mercedes has not released details of any mechanical changes, but the latest CLS will feature innovations such as headlamps which only use LED bulbs – something it claims is a world first.
The first generation CLS has been a great success, with more than 170,000 sold worldwide. It’s also proved to be a popular choice on the used car market, with more than 220,000 searches on Auto Trader last month alone.
There are currently more than 400 used Mercedes CLSs for sale on Auto Trader.
