VARCom President Appointment by Governor to Crucial Virginia Workforce Council

PRLog (Press Release) - Sep. 28, 2010 - Herndon, VA  – VARCom Solutions, a nationally-recognized marketing and public relations firm, is proud to announce that Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell has appointed VARCom president/founder, Raul Danny Vargas, to a four-year term on the Virginia Workforce Council.

The Virginia Workforce Council (VWC) is a business-led board that acts as the principal advisor to the Governor and provides strategic leadership to the state regarding the workforce development system and its efforts to create a strong workforce aligned with employer needs. Additionally, the VWC is charged with serving as the State Board for the federal Workforce Investment Act (WIA), setting policy and standards for the local Workforce Investment Boards (WIBs) and One Stop Centers.

“I am truly honored to serve the Commonwealth of Virginia in a role that will have a direct impact on its future economic prosperity” said Vargas.  He added, “As Governor McDonnell continues to aggressively pursue his economic development agenda, workforce development will remain a top priority to facilitate the state’s competitiveness for attracting investment, generating job growth and meeting the needs of employers today and into the future.”

In addition to being a business-owner in Northern Virginia, Mr. Vargas served as the Chairman of the Dulles Regional Chamber of Commerce, where among other accomplishments; he helped launch the Chamber’s workforce development committee and its Corporate College during his tenure.  He has also held management roles in several large corporations including AOL, France Telecom, Sprint, and Raytheon and served in the United States Air Force.

Active in the community, Vargas is a member of the Board of Directors of Northern Virginia Family Service, a non-profit helping struggling families become self-reliant, including a nationally-recognized training program called Training Futures providing professional development in a variety of disciplines.  He also serves as a Congressionally-appointed Commissioner on the National Museum of the American Latino Commission and is a graduate of Leadership Fairfax.  Danny is a regular commentator on national news programs on politics and business issues and frequently speaks at local schools on the importance of education and hard work.
