Most wanted used cars

PRLog (Press Release) - Sep. 28, 2010 - There were more than 112 million used car searches on Auto Trader in August alone. Here are our top five most searched for used cars in each category.

Superminis

Superminis are affordable, fun to drive and receive almost 18 million searches on Auto Trader every month.

1. Fiat Punto: 3,074,056

2. Vauxhall Corsa: 1,940,195

3. Ford Fiesta: 1,692,006

4. Ford Ka: 1,269,407

5. Volkswagen Polo: 1,021,006


Hatchbacks

More than 17 million searches were made for hatchbacks last month, but almost three million of those went to the Volkswagen Golf(http://www.autotrader.co.uk/carmakes/volkswagen/golf). With almost a million more searches than runners up the Ford Focus and Vauxhall Astra, the Golf’s popularity continues to dominate.

2. Ford Focus: 2,137,005

3. Vauxhall Astra: 2,008,307

4. Audi A3: 1,376,575

5. Honda Civic: 1,167,773


Saloons

If you want space, comfort, practicality and performance then a saloon could be your answer. It’s also the most popular used car category, with almost 21 million searches in August alone.

The BMW 3 Series is the clear winner – it isn’t just the most searched for used saloon, it’s the most searched for car on all of Auto Trader.

1. BMW 3 Series: 3,178,229

2. Audi A4: 1,737,559

3. BMW 5 Series: 1,393,494

4. Ford Mondeo: 1,358,022

5. Mercedes C-Class: 1,069,558

Sports

Sports cars get almost 11 million searches each month. With more than 750,000 searches and almost 2,000 used models currently for sale on Auto Trader, the Audi TT is the most popular sports car.

3. Toyota MR2: 562,320

4. BMW M3: 556,195

5. Mercedes CLK: 536,362


SUVs

The hottest sports utility vehicle in the UK last month according to you is the BMW X5. With almost 10 million searches in August, our love affair with the SUV continues.

2. Mercedes M-Class: 538,118

3. Land Rover Discovery: 533,202

4. Range Rover: 527,912

5. Ford Ranger: 452,528

MPVs

MPVs get more than five million searches each month. If you’re looking for a comfortable, practical and great value used family car then you need look no further.

With more than 580,000 searches in May and more than 4,600 used models currently for sale, there’s a used Vauxhall Zafira to suit everyone’s budget.
